Headless Horseman Recipe

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow was written by Washington Irving as part of a collection of short stories, published in 1820. The story takes place during the American Revolution. Part of the story surrounds the legend of the Headless Horseman, a Hessian soldier (German soldier contracted by the British government), who was decapitated by a cannonball and was said to be seen riding around the battlefield, searching for his head.

Ingredients:

  • 2 ounces vodka
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • 4 ounces ginger ale
  • Orange slice, to garnish

Directions:

  1. Combine the vodka and Angostura bitters in an ice-filled highball glass.
  2. Slowly add the ginger ale, and gently stir.
  3. Garnish with the orange slice, and serve.
