Cuban Sidecar Recipe

Carlos Manuel de Céspedes del Castillo was a prominent Cuban attorney and plantation owner. In 1868, he freed his slaves and made the declaration of Cuban independence from Spain, thus beginning the Ten Years’ War.

Ingredients:

  • 1 ounce light rum
  • 1 ounce Cointreau
  • 1 ounce lime juice
  • Lime spiral, to garnish

Directions:

  1. Shake the light rum, Cointreau and  lime juice in a cocktail shaker with ice.
  2. Strain the contents of the shaker into a chilled cocktail glass.
  3. Garnish with the lime spiral, and serve.
