Vanilla Old-Fashioned

Spanish explorer Hernán Cortés is said to have introduced both vanilla and chocolate to western Europe in the 1520s.

Ingredients:

2 ounces bourbon

1/4 ounce orange juice

1/4 ounce simple syrup

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 dashes orange bitters

Orange spiral, to garnish

Directions:

  1. Combine the bourbon, orange juice, simple syrup, vanilla extract and orange bitters in an ice-filled old-fashioned glass.
  2. Garnish with the orange spiral, and serve.
