Spiced Apple Cocktail

Spiced Apple Cocktail

The only apples native to North America are crab apples. Different varieties of apples were brought to North America by colonists in the 17th century. Reverend William Blaxton is credited with planting the first apple orchard in North America in 1625.

Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon simple syrup
  • 1 1/2 ounces spiced rum
  • 3 1/2 ounces apple juice
  • 2 dashes amaretto
  • Apple slices, to garnish

Directions:

  1. To prepare the cocktail glass, rub the rim of the glass with simple syrup.
  2. Combine the cinnamon and sugar on a plate and roll the rim of the glass in the cinnamon and sugar mixture.
  3. Shake the spiced rum, apple juice, amaretto and 1/8 teaspoon of the cinnamon and sugar mixture in a cocktail shaker with ice.
  4. Strain the contents of the shaker into the prepared cocktail glass.
  5. Garnish with the apple slices, and serve.
