New York Sour Recipe

New York City was founded by Dutch colonists in 1624 and dubbed the city New Amsterdam. The city held that name until the English took control of the colony in 1664.

Ingredients:

  • 2 ounces bourbon
  • 3/4 ounce lemon juice
  • 3/4 ounce simple syrup
  • Red wine, to float

Directions:

  1. Shake the bourbon, lemon juice and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker with ice.
  2. Strain the contents of the shaker into an ice-filled old-fashioned glass.
  3. Float the red wine, by pouring the wine over the back of a spoon into the drink, and serve.
