Mint Julep Recipe

The Mint Julep has been promoted as the drink of choice at Churchill Downs for the running of the Kentucky Derby since 1938.

Ingredients:

  • 6 mint leaves
  • 1 teaspoon simple syrup
  • 3 ounces bourbon
  • 1 mint sprig, to garnish

Directions:

  1. Muddle the mint leaves and simple syrup in a highball or Collins glass.
  2. Fill the glass with crushed ice, and add the bourbon.
  3. Garnish with the mint sprig, and serve.
