Dubonnet Fizz

Dubonnet Fizz Recipe

In 1846, the French government held a competition to make bitter tasting quinine more palatable for French soldiers battling malaria in North Africa.
It was that competition that gave birth to the aperitif, Dubonnet.

Ingredients:

  • 2 ounces Dubonnet
  • 1 ounce orange juice
  • 1/2 ounce lemon juice
  • 1/4 ounce cherry brandy
  • 3 ounces seltzer water

Directions:

  1. Shake the Dubonnet, orange juice, lemon juice and cherry brandy in a cocktail shaker with ice.
  2. Strain the contents of the shaker into an ice-filled highball or Collins glass.
  3. Add the seltzer water, gently stir, and serve.
