Dubonnet Fizz Recipe
In 1846, the French government held a competition to make bitter tasting quinine more palatable for French soldiers battling malaria in North Africa.
It was that competition that gave birth to the aperitif, Dubonnet.
- 2 ounces Dubonnet
- 1 ounce orange juice
- 1/2 ounce lemon juice
- 1/4 ounce cherry brandy
- 3 ounces seltzer water
- Shake the Dubonnet, orange juice, lemon juice and cherry brandy in a cocktail shaker with ice.
- Strain the contents of the shaker into an ice-filled highball or Collins glass.
- Add the seltzer water, gently stir, and serve.
